THE BRIEF
William Birch approached ACS IT Services to assist with migrating their RDS environment into SharePoint and OneDrive. Additionally, they required a network hardware refresh and the migration of their Exchange server to Microsoft 365 (M365). William Birch uses a variety of different systems and programs, all of which needed to be considered during the migration to ensure business continuity.
We divided the project into three sections to ensure a smooth and efficient transition for William Birch.
Exchange Server Migration: The first section involved migrating the mailboxes and Exchange server to Microsoft 365. This provided a more secure and reliable email service while freeing up storage on the on-premise servers, aiding the remainder of the project.
Network Hardware Upgrade: The second section involved procuring and installing new network hardware to improve the performance and security of the IT infrastructure. This also allowed for the decommissioning of redundant hardware.
RDS Environment Migration: The third section focused on migrating the RDS environment to SharePoint and OneDrive, enabling better collaboration and document management.
By staging the project, we were able to minimise downtime and maintain business continuity for William Birch.
The project was a success, resulting in a modernised and streamlined IT environment that met the needs and expectations of William Birch. They now enjoy improved efficiency, productivity, and security thanks to the cloud- based solutions and upgraded hardware. Staff can access emails and documents from anywhere, collaborate seamlessly, and benefit from the enhanced features of Microsoft 365. The project also reduced operational costs and the risks associated with maintaining outdated and unsupported systems. William Birch was very satisfied with the outcome and praised ACS IT Services for their professionalism and expertise.
